To all of our esteemed clients and friends, Happy New Year 2012!

On the 27th December, Asia iKnowledge staff had the pleasure of participating in a company-organized team building event throughout the course of the day. It was a meaningful day which brought all the different job functions, team members and departments together. Although the games and activities were fun, there was also an abundance of knowledge that our staff members took away from the team-building session. Some of these lessons were about working together as a unit, realising potential leaders, professionalism in the workplace and also motivational tidbits to keep members charged up.

After the exhilarating day of team-building, iKnowledge staff members took a short break to prepare for our themed annual dinner. The theme for this year was that of a Masquerade Dinner, and thus 99% of the participants dressed in their best and most attractive masquerade masks. The remaining 1% appeared as a scary zombie wearing a suit (yours truly). Donning their masks, all of the staff participated in performances, lucky draws, and a game of charades. It was truly a fun night, and everyone had a blast - it was a true celebration to close the year of 2011 with friends here in Asia iKnowledge.

We extend our warmest holiday greetings and New Year greetings to all of our clients and friends.

On 21 & 22 July 2011 - the National Electrical Safety Conference was held in KLCC, Kuala Lumpur. Organized by Suruhanjaya Tenaga and managed by Asia iKnowledge - The objective of this conference was to provide a platform for policy makers, regulators, industry players and consumer groups to discuss and share latest information and experiences on electrical safety towards enhanching electrical safety towards enhancing electrical safety performance in the country.

This event is a major milestone in Electrical Safety initiatives in Malaysia - as it was the first of its kind. During these two days, many outstanding presentations were held and we are also happy to announce that our esteemed delegates partook very actively during the Q & A sessions. Here at Asia iKnowledge, we believe in the saying that "All work and no play is no way to live". With the generosity of bosses, and the planning genius of our very own Rashidi and Ms. Zetty - everyone who attended got to enjoy a delicious Indian buffet dinner, great music and a variety of games.

The theme this year was decided to be "Back to School" by our esteemed "Teachers" (Mr. Rashidi & Ms. Zetty). Yes, all had to wear school clothes/school club clothes or be penalized. The rules were so strictly enforced that even latecomers were penalized with a harsh punishment! A total of three games were played, all team-based and each was focussed on enhancing a particular trait - concentration, focus and strategy (Brilliant! it was a lot of fun).

Aside from the fun and games, it was also an opportunity for all of us to recognize outstanding members of iK - in terms of Best Sales, Best Leader, Best Newcomer and Best Operations. We also crowned a King and Queen of the night, so congratulations to our very own Ms. Dewi who is the reigning iK Queen. We'll leave the King's identity to be a secret.

Congratulations to all the winners, and I hope you guys continue the great work. Let's look forward to another great year of 2011 together. What is the TEAM-SWO Outreach Initiative?

TEEAM is a SIRIM designated Standards Writing Organisation (SWO) since 20th August 1999. Over the 11 years, TEEAM-SWO as the Chair & Secretariat for SIRIM TC 10: “Electrical Installation, Protection and Insulation Practice” has developed and reviewed a number of standards; both indigenous as well as adopting and adapting IEC standards. Amongst which is the MS IEC 60364 and TEEAM-SWO proceeded further to develop the Guide to MS IEC 60364 for Electrical Installations of Buildings which is MS 1936: 2006, together with its companion Malaysian Code of Practice on Electrical Installations of Buildings (MS 1979:2007) which now forms the referral standard in ST’s Installation Guidelines for Electrical Installations in the Electricity Supply Industry.

In the light of the importance regarding EMC concerns and Power Quality (PQ) issues; and to complement and supplement MS IEC 60364 and other standards of the MS IEC 61000 series developed by SIRIM TC 8 – The Technical Committee on PQ; TEEAM-SWO seriously considered the available IEC Technical Reports (TRs) on Part 5 of the IEC 61000 series. After a period of site evaluation of the recommended practices which proved suitable and they conform to Malaysian practices; TEEAM-SWO (cum TC 10) then further developed and adapted the IEC TRs as the Malaysian Standards; the final drafts of which are listed in the caption.

The process of developing Malaysian Standards is to achieve consenses among stakeholders. In this instance, whilst the two referred draft standards are now opened (by SIRIM) for public comments in the months of August & September 2010; TEEAM-SWO (TC 10) has embarked on an outreach initiative to stakeholders to seek feedback to these two important standards. Accordingly, TEEAM-SWO; with the assistance of “Asia iKnowledge” will hold a public forum on the two draft standards referred above on 24th September 2010 at Hotel Singgahsana Petaling Jaya.

Though TEEAM-SWO is the designated Chair & Secretariat for TC 10, other members (besides TEEAM’s representatives) of the TC 10 are specialist representatives from the following organisations:

Yesterday, on March 31st - everyone in the iKnowledge staff had the privilege of celebrating three birthdays of three very fine ladies. We congratulate Ms. Brenda, Ms. Danyta and Ms. Tiffany respectively for their birthdays and we hope that they ate a lot of cake (the only way to enjoy a birthday!). We also farewelled Ms. Ai Li, an intern who was with us for a very brief 2 month stint - who will be continuing her studies and future internship elsewhere. We wish her all the best and hope that she'll be successful in her endeavours. Everyone celebrated with cake, pizza, KFC and other foods which our parents tell us not to eat.

Happy Chinese New Year to all our Friends!

iKnowledge ushered in the Chinese Lunar New Year with a special visit from a Lion Dance troupe. The troupe breathed life into a usually quiet corridors of the office building. The Lion Dancers were skilled at navigating the narrow doorways and hallways to put on a great and exciting performance. We were impressed by their dedication too, they didn't stop drumming even as they entered the lift! You could literally hear the Lion dance march as they were in the elevator shaft! It was an event that was enjoyed by both office departments of iKnowledge staff.

Budding champions for the 2010 World Cup

On thursday, 28th January - a few brave and athletic souls from the 8th and 9th floors of iKnowledge pitted themselves against each other for a jolly good round of "Futsal" (a minimized version of English soccer). After a busy day in the office, our hopeful World Cup candidates decided to get active and get their blood pumping. Much fun was had by all, as Sales executives transformed into Premier League champions as soon as the starting whistle was blown. Although I was not present for this truly amazing display of teamwork - I can only assume that the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Rafa Benitez were all at awe at the sheer skill and powerful futsal on offer for the night.

We had a lot of fun together!

In the evening of December 23rd, the entire iKnowledge crew got together for a Christmas dinner party (kindly hosted by Ryan and Kacey). Not just an ordinary dinner get-together, games and activities were arranged by our two event managers - Ms. Danyta and Ms. Sara. The theme was flower/hawaiian and activities included: limbo, hula hooping, charades, best dress awards and many more. The night ended with a secret santa exchange and a clip of our achievements in the year of 2009. Reflective and enjoyable, it truly was a night everyone loved.

NSMC 2009

This past November - on two separate weekends (14th & 15th and 21st & 22nd), iKnowledge and it's crew in red hosted the National Sales and Money Convention, Malaysia 2009. The first weekend concentrated on how to achieve sales targets, maximizing your time and how to get potential clients to chase you up, not the other way around!

After two intensive learning sessions on the Sales weekend, the crowd was back for more insight and enlightening for the money weekend. This time around, the focus was not the clients, but the most important people (the participants themselves). Our expert speakers motivated all in attendance that day - by sharing proven systems on how to achieve financial freedom.
