iKnowledge Team Building 2016
The theme for this year's company team-building was a train station hunt. All across the company, our team members from various divisions assembled early on a Friday morning to gather into small groups for the day's briefing. After a tasty breakfast, everyone was energized and ready to tackle the various challenges set out by the team-building organizers. The activities themselves were quite entertaining and really tested the teamwork aspects of the day. Including sightseeing challenges, there were also mental tasks, and riddles to be solved to earn the requisite amount of points. In order to push teams to their best performance, there were also generous cash voucher to be won as prizes. The best part of the day was definitely meeting people from different divisions and departments, and bonding with them in a way that was meaningful and beneficial.
The sightseeing challenge was designed to test the teams in their ability to pay attention to the finest details. The mental tasks were useful as brain exercises, and some of them were really tough for just one person to solve, that's why we were all organized into teams. More than just the activities, the team-building day was also great because it allowed everyone in the company to go off and explore Kuala Lumpur city by themselves, I would argue that the exploration component was as rewarding as finding the answers to the various mental challenges. Towards the end of the day, there was a special surprise for all the teams with the FEAR FACTOR challenge! Finally, the great day ended with a buffet lunch and the announcement of the winners.
Although all the teams were "competing" against each other for the prize, the greater emphasis was in having fun and enjoying the moment as an entire organization. Although were in separate and smaller teams, we were all still on the same team at the end.
